Change

A child complained to his mother about the hardships and struggles in his life. He felt that just as he resolved one, another would pop up in its place. The mother put three pots of water on the stove. She placed potatoes, eggs, and coffee beans separately in each pot.

After the water boiled, the mother peeled the eggs and placed them on a plate with the potatoes. Then she poured coffee into a mug. Finally, she told her son, "you can be the potato, the egg, or the coffee bean." The boy was confused and asked for clarification.

"All three faced the same challenging pot of hot water - the potato was firm and became soft, the egg was a thin hard shell with a liquid interior that became hard, but the coffee beans changed the water itself and became something new."

Challenges, difficulties, and adversity are a part of life. I cannot avoid them, but I can decide if I want to be a potato, an egg, or the coffee.

Are you faced with challenges? Try to create something new now. If not you, who? If not now, when?

Be curious, be kind, be whole, do good things.
