Release
For many years, one day a year held a special power over all other days. Birthdays, Christmas, and other holidays were cool and all, but the last day of school was magical. The teachers lost their power. The reins were released. I could do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. After final grades, before the last day of school was the longest part of the year. It was all worth it to get to the last day of school.

The big milestone moments, like the last day of school or turning 16, 18, and 21, seemed like endpoints. Once I get to X, I will have permanent happiness, because I will have the freedom to accomplish everything I want. Time and again, I felt the first day of school sneak up on me.
Those moments came and went, but without doing anything different, I found myself in the same place. Wanting something different isn’t accomplished by the calendar; it is achieved by working towards it. When I want to accomplish something, the first step is taking the first step. My next move will either make my future easier or harder. Every tomorrow lets today be the last day of school.
Will I use tomorrow to take that first step? Am I moving closer to my desired future? Can I help you get closer to yours?
Be curious, be kind, be whole, do good things.
